Winsley notch up first league win

with a victory over felow league strugglers Hampset on saturday.

Winsley finally notched up their first win of the season on saturday with a convincing 51 run win away at Hampset.

After winning the toss Winsley chose to bat on a hot June afternoon and we soon in the runs with openers Spencer and Houlton crashing boundries. After the early wicket of Houlton Terrence Duffin came to the crease looking to make amends for his debut duck and he was soon in the runs.

The Winsley innings continued at a good pace until Chopper Harris came to the crease. A quick fire 63 from harris (his first half century for the first team) ensured that Winsley reached 259-5 from their 45.

Ex skipper John Spencer immediately removed the Hampset captain in the first over and 2 other wickets soon followed ensuring that Winsley maintained a grip on the match which they would not relinquish. Some solid lower order batting from Dave Perryman ensured that Hampset made a fight for it reaching 208-7.

Lets hope that this can kick start Winsley's season with 3 tough games ahead with Timsbury(H), Shirehampton(A) and Congresbuty(H) all at the top of the table
